About Whispering Winds Winery
Starting from a humble trailer in 1996 producing about 180 gallons of wine, Whispering Winds Winery has grown to produce more than 2,000 gallons of wine annually.
After a business client showed Jim how to make wine, his interest grew. He researched and learned about wine making and started experimenting with different flavors. In 2007, Jim started selling the wine because of requests from friends. Working with a friend who owns the main vineyard, Whispering Winds Winery now produces a variety of Red, White, Blush, and Fruit Wines. Our most popular wines are Drupleberry, a mixed berry wine, and Purple Stuff, a Concord grape wine. See our Wine List for a complete list and product descriptions.
Whispering Winds wines are available for sale at 20 locations throughout southern Wisconsin. Look for our labels in Fennimore, Lancaster, Potosi, Rockville, Ellenboro, Dodgeville, Mineral Point, Boscobel, Prairie du Chien, Watertown, Broadhead, Orfordville, Montfort, Bagley, Glen Haven and Bloomington.
Our country roots are reflected in our business. Our labels are classic, pure and simple. The wind blowing through the pine trees inspired our company name. The simple little white shed welcomes visitors and stands as a symbol of our modest, rural winery.
Located in a scenic valley in Grant County, you are welcome to visit our winery and taste our selection of wines. Watch for the Wisconsin state tourism sign on Hwy 18 three miles east of Fennimore WI. Turn north on Military Road and then Blue School Road. Just over 5 miles from Fennimore, our winery is located on a blacktop road. We are members of the Great River Wine Trail and the Badger State Winery Cooperative.
Jim also has handmade wood vases available for sale. The vases are crafted from the trees on his land and are available in a range of sizes and woods. Stop in and talk to Jim about his woodcrafts, too!
